The main farmhouse
The passion the owners, originally from Milan, have devoted to the main building and the two separate lodgings for guests is evident and to which the surrounding well-cared for 18 hectares of fields and woods also bear witness. This Milanese couple had long contemplated leaving the big city but hesitated to take the plunge until the registry office began to hound them.
The original portion of the main farmhouse, where the owners live, dates to the eighteenth century and belonged to a faithful retainer of Pope Urban VIII who gave him these lands as a reward for his services.
The main criteria underlying the renovation was to make the most of the fine local stone with which it was built, eliminate a few incompatible later additions, and provide the building with more modern comforts.

The stone spring
The name comes from a stone spring, built around 1900, at the top of the property. It collects the subterranean waters of the catch basin for the entire valley. It collects the subterranean waters of the catch basin for the entire valley.
The water is channelled to the main house from which it flows out in two separate points. Laboratory analyses have stated the salubrity and purity of the water, confirming what seemed obvious since up to 2005 (the year the municipal aqueduct was connected) the spring was the only source of water in this valley whose inhabitants are distinguished for their good health and longevity!
The swimming pool
The salt water swimming pool (18 x 6) dominates a glade in the middle of the pine grove. It is equipped with sun umbrellas, deck chairs, shower and can be lit up, with lighting inside the pool. It is therefore available on request for night swimming.
On the lawn surrounding the pool you can relax or play table tennis and table football. Under the swimming pool there is a room with a refrigerator, where you can keep food and drink cold, and a bathroom with a hot shower.

Horses and more...
Various animals share the privilege of living here: including the horses on which Paola and Marco’s four children first learned to ride and which now enjoy the peaceful pastureland in the midst of the around 400 olive trees arranged in a semicircle
A couple of sheep and two goats live happily in a large fenced area in the pine grove on the southern edge of the lands.
Obviously there are dogs and cats on a farming estate, but don’t worry. There aren’t too many and they are well trained, almost as if they felt the Franciscan influence of these lands.
And there are of course wild animals. One doesn’t have to be all that lucky to encounter a deer, a fox, a hare, or observe a hawk slowly gliding in circles, during a walk at sunset on one of the many paths that wind through the property.

The lake
If you feel that a dip in the salt water pool (18 x 6 m) located in a clearing in the midst of the pine grove is not rustic enough, you can wander down to the pond where an underground spring will refresh you even on the hottest summer day. If you enjoy looking for fish, ask Tobia, the owner’s oldest son, to go with you. He knows all the inhabitants of the pond practically by name.

Waterfall and water pools
In the period preceding the driest season, you can roam along a country lane that leads to a clear stream, which runs along the woody side of the hill in front of the farmhouse. The little stream is interrupted by several crystalline water pools, ideal for alternating the climb with a refreshing stop! The small natural pools in fact offer the opportunity to bathe in the middle of the unspoilt nature. Not to be missed!
